But since this is a Windows system it ran fine, and i didn't even notice the file name changes for a while. Windows and IIS I guess have case insensitivity in everything including php code ran on it.
Well i want to join the rest of the world now and run SMF on CentOS/Apache but the smf code is looking for the php files with case sensitivity so it's not working!
There are a LOT of files to go through and manually fix their cases. That's a last resort that I might consider.
But so far I've tried setting this on the apache server config file and it didn't seem to help - unless i used it wrong.

I should also mention that I have a few mods installed so would rather not install fresh new files.

After launching my website, it has been brought up to me, that in order for a user who registered with facebook using the SA Facebook mod, that they can't save account changes because they have to enter a password. If the user is using their facebook for registration, is a local registration completely bypassed, therefore the user does not have a password on the website? I am confused on this. If a user wants to change their information under account settings, they can't do it without having a password to save the changes. Any tips on this?

Ma base c'est retrouvée allégée de plus de 5 Mo de datas ! 
Avec l'arrivée des beaux jours, ma base de données était ravie de retrouver une taille de guêpe ! 
Concernant la table des sessions, je n'ai pas l'intention d'y faire le ménage très souvent, mais de temps en temps.
Par contre, la table log_spider_stats m'énerve un peu à vrai dire.
Je ne lui trouve aucune utilité et je me fous de tout ce qu'elle peut enregistrer...
Si je veux savoir si des bots sont passés, je regarde AwStats qui m'apporte toutes les infos voulues.
Par contre, passer par PhpMyAdmin pour faire le ménage n'est pas vraiment la solution idéale...
Donc, si quelqu'un avait un petit script qui fait le ménage tout seul comme un grand quand je lui demande, je serais ravi de l'utiliser !

zanima me da li postoji neki mod koji salje automatski PM poruku useru kojem se obrise post. Recimo neko nesto posta i moderator foruma nakon nekog vremena obrise taj post i sada forum automatski salje PM poruku tome user-u da je njegov post obrisan.
Post nemora biti obrisan moze se i prebacit recimo u kategoriju "Recycle bin" i da forum posalje poruku da je njegov post prebacen u kategoriju "Recycle bin". Ili jedno ili drugo sve jedno je.
Je suis tout nouveau tout comme mon forum qui est d'ailleurs le tout premier forum que je lance, je galère un peu a vrai dire. Dans un topic que je dois poster, je dois y intégrer un slideshare. Once done, your forum will be in a virgin state, software-wise. All of your members, posts, etc. will be intact. However, none of your mods will be installed now. They will, fortunately, still be in Package Manager. From there, you can either apply/install them, or delete them, as you desire. Any of your mod's settings that are stored in the database will be retained and still be usable when the mod is reinstalled.

need some help i'm not super tech but I get around ok . I installed smf 2.0.6 using utf8 encoding. My database is also utf8 encoded. When I send pm through the forum everything works well, accents are well displayed.
I have an application developed with CodeIgniter that is link to the smf forum through SSI. The application uses the same database than smf and I use netbeans 8.0 with utf8 file encoding.
So everything looks find but when I send a pm through the CI app the accents are not well encoded (ex: La tournée). Another problem, if a username content an accent I need to convert it to utf8, ex: utf8_encode($smf->get_context()['user']['username']), in order to have it well displayed on CI side.
It looks like there is a problem of encoding when passing between smf and CI but i can't figure out what's going wrong.

I'm using the third one (mybb to smf) - with the default .sql file it doesn't detect the database prefix and can't read any table, (error: Sorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of MyBulletinBoard 1.0. This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the Database account used does not have permissions to access it.The error that was received from the Database was: SELECT command denied to user 'dev'@'localhost' for table 'users') - with the latest .sql file given in this thread everything goes fine until I have this error message. "The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: poster_email"...
If I change the .inc/config related line in the .sql file given on the download page, with "---~ from_prefix: "`{$config['database']['database']}`.{$config['database']['table_prefix']}"" I can start the script but then I have several mysql errors.
I am very sorry to hear that you have some problems with my mod. By the looks of it, there is most probably some sort of conflict between my mod and another one that is already installed. So what has happened is that you have partially removed the mod; the presentation files still contain unnecessary code.
I assume that you are using version 2.X; please note if I am mistaken. In other to fix that you will have to manually modify some of the files. You can find all the changes the mod is performing to your forum in YourSmfFolder/Packages/BestAnswer-v1.4/modification-2.0.xml. The file responsible for displaying the posts is located in YourSmfFolder/Themes/YourCurrentTheme/Display.template.php, so open up both this file and modification-2.0.xml. In the second named file, scroll down to line number 92, and copy the code between the CDATA tags (<![CDATA[COPYME]]>). Then head back to the other file, start searching in the file (CTRL + F in most text redactors) and paste the code. Then look back to the modification file, and check if the code on the next line (that one in the add tags) can still be found in your Display.template.php file. If so, please remove it. Continue the same procedure until the code is all clear.
Should you have any other problems and/or questions, please make sure you tell me. And also, I would like to know what other mod packages you are using, thank you.

I contacted ipage (the host) and they sent me the attached message in reply to the problem. I don't know how to do anything mentioned. I also attached the error mesg you get when you try to go to the site. Any advice or help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!!

En el acto me di cuenta, ya no es posible poder aumentar manualmente la caja de edición, pero no es problema eso, por lo menos no para mi, ya que se crea la barra vertical.

In fact to change the 'pages' part you'd have to track down every instance of the code where the page index is used and manually change it. There's a lot of them and they're not all consistently named.
To change the numbers - including the [1] for current page - though, that can be done with a single edit, not using the above code nor in any theme. You'll need to go to cPanel, to the file manager and find Sources/Subs.php since it will have to be a change to Subs.php itself where the page index is generated.
In Subs.php, you will be able to find this code:

Estoy teniendo un problema con los avatares... no me deja elegir por URL ni subiéndolo... cuando pongo para subir la casilla de ubicación queda como si no la eligiera después de elegirla por ende no la sube, y por url pongo la url y cuando guardo no hace nada.

At least that way anyone else that wasn't on the member's buddy list would just see the regular default profile and not the ultimate one.

Thx Arantor, this is what I was looking for. Although I thought if I set this to 1 only 1 can be written in field, but it's not, members can still add multiple members, but after they click Send, they get error "You may not send personal messages to more than 1 recipient(s) at once.". Is this possible to change (like it was in SMF 1) or it is as it is?
The idea is :
- a new member registers on my forum
- an email is automatically sent to Aweber email parser (a specific email address used to add people to a list) in order to extract Id and email
What I need is to get an email from forum with new member Id and email. Nothing else.
This could be a copy of the Welcome email sent to new member with BCC to Aweber parser adress. But I cannot find where to add the Aweber email into the SMF source code to add the BCC.

If the user is using their facebook for registration, is a local registration completely bypassed, therefore the user does not have a password on the website? I am confused on this. If a user wants to change their information under account settings, they can't do it without having a password to save the changes. Any tips on this?

I've recently been trying to installs mods onto my forums. I download the ZIP files and upload them into the packages folder through FTP. However, when I go to the package manager and click the "test connection" button, it only says this:
Could not contact server.

Hi guys. I currently have 1.5.2 and I'm considering upgrading to either 2.1 or the paid version. In either case, can I just install over the old one, or is it more involved? There's a been a lot of traffic recently to the servers. Depending on the route being used to get here, there is a chance that the route is either having issues, or that particular route to our server is congested. Using a VPN there is a very good chance that your connection is taking a completely different route.
I want to add a bottom slice to the boards in my forums to make my theme look a bit nicer, but Im not too sure how to do that without effecting other parts of the theme and Im not sure how to get it done

would really love some assistance on this as this is one of the final things ill be doing with my theme

I have to admit - some of the technical things about it are above my level of comprehension.
Can you help me?

2) please tell me how to adjust my settings so that real visitors are not accidentally blocked? )I currently have everything set to default and I am afraid to make any changes because I do not understand how it works or what to try.)
Yesterday one of my head admins was blocked for an entire day & that told me I really need to learn more about this. I suspect that other real visitors may also be being blocked.

Les voy a dejar unos pequeños tips que les pueden ayudar a la hora de escoger un buen servicio de hosting (alojamiento web). Antes de contratar guiandote por los tipicos comentarios como: contrata con este o yo recomiendo, Yo uso , no lo pienses mas usa este y un largo de etc, etc.
No voy a indicar donde o cual empresa de alojamiento web elegir, dado que esta es una guia para que no cometan el error de alojar sus foros en hosting que pueden luego darles mas de un problema, yo comprendo que hay muchos jovenes que desean empezar en este negocio, pero es que hay muchos que hacen las cosas mal y dejan mal parados a los demas.
Lo que quizas necesitas saber antes de contratar un servicio de hosting en base a recomendaciones en los foros es:
★ Desconfíar siempre de lo excesivamente barato, porque estos hosting que ofrecen precios excesivamente bajos no suelen dar buen resultado. A veces se piensa que “mientras más barato Mejor” y no siempre es así, cuando contrates el servicio y vayas a pagar, al menos los tres primeros meses hacer pagos mes a mes. Nunca contratar el servicio por un periodo largo así de buenas a primeras. (Lo barato se ve bien, pero luego...)
★ Buscar siempre que puedas un hosting que no realize overselling (que no venda mas de lo que tiene, decir que es todo ilimitado suena a buen marketing y es solo eso)
★ Que al menos ofresca servicios de backups (esto tambien lo puede hacer uno para su propio respaldo), es siempre mejor que el hosting los realize en un nodo separado (suponiendo que los hagan).
★ Recuerden leer, releer y verificar una y otra vez las características del plan a contratar. Aveces, puede pasar, que contratamos, y después nos encontramos que no dan acceso a determinadas funciones del servidor, o tal o cual cosa. Eso muchas veces es un error de no prestar suficiente atención, mas allá de las empresas estafadoras.
★ Busca en lo posible un hosting que no vaya cambiando de nombre de dominio cada cierto tiempo.(esos repentinos cambios de nombre suelen hacerlo cuando pasa algo y desean desaparecer ante los demas)
★ Busca un hosting que responda los tickets con prontitud y coherencia
Quizas las ofertas que te lleguen o ya tengas vistas puedes preguntarles:
★ Cuantos clientes alojan por maquina y cual es el load de sus servidores.
★ Que tipo de raid y discos usan.
★ En que datacenter alquilan/alojan las máquinas.
★ Si utilizan SuPHP para mejorar la seguridad en tema de permisos.
★ Si tienen las maquinas monitorizadas 24x7 desde distintas ubicaciónes .
Sobre todo hay que evitar aquellos hosting donde todo se ve fantastico en los foros, evitar aquellos hosting donde se hacen comentarios de lo bien que es su servicio, esos comentarios muchas veces no correponden a la realiadad, dado que se suelen juntar 4 o 5 amiguetes y entre ellos autopromocionan en diversos foros su negocio, o lo hacen porque tienen algun interes de ganar algo a cambio por la recomendaciones que hacen en los foros segun el acuerdo a que llegan con el hosting. Muchos pican en la trama que montan y luego pasa lo que pasa no es por mal pero esto es asi.
Suerte en la busqueda a todos aquellos que necesitan contratar un servicio de hosting (alojamiento web). Es una guia básica, si quieren más! ya lo aprenderan.

elseI think I figured out the fix, but I want to make sure what I'm doing isn't going to cause more problems down the road. On a test version of the forum (set up on a different server. I had problems with repair_settings changing paths on ALL SMF installs across the server when I was trying to run it in a separate folder on the main server) I went in to the database and dropped all tables for plugins. Since there are no plugins installed the test forum seems to be running fine, but obviously that's without any real traffic, or people poking into all the dark corners.
Will this work? Is there something major that I'm missing and that will come around to bite me in the butt in the long run if I use this method on the main forum?
Oh, I also had every table in the database replicated with a backup_ heading. Is it ok to delete those as well?
I would like to send out a newsletter. Currently, some members have opted out for newsletters, while others haven't.
To make the situation clear, I want to make a fresh start from the beginning, better said, put a checkmark in every account
(so that everyone actually receive my newsletters)
In the following newsletter, I'm going to say that everyone who doesn't want to receive the next version, can opt out in their account.
My question: how to reset this option - so that everyone is subscribed for my newsletter again?

La cuestion es que quisiera darle a mis visitantes o usuario un boton donde los lleve a una guia del foro o ayuda para ellos.
El foro viene con un boton de "Ayuda" pero practicamente es para el web master y lo que necesito o necesitamos muchos es ayudar a los usuarios que llegan a nuestra web, se encuentran con ese formulario que no tiene nada qque ver.
Me encantaria poder editarlo:
Poner en el los enlaces de algunos sub foros importantes a leer, una guia etc. etc.
Se puede?

If you could make multiple boxes for different Ads that would rotate or appear random in each post.
Rather than a fixed number of Ads (I guess that is easier), best would be and 'add' button to just increase the number as you like. A bit like Simple Portal blocks - I noticed you use Simple Portal.

I currently have two sites:
1. An Enjin site which I need to point to my local domain.
2. An installation of SMF (2.0.7) on my local domain.
I contacted my host about pointing the domain and they said they would set up a sub-domain for the forums. They gave me a new URL and told me that I have to replace the existing directory in the SMF Admin panel to the one provided. I think I see where I'm supposed to change it, and I have made/downloaded a backup of my forums, but I'm uncertain and nervous about changing the URL without double checking as I don't want to corrupt all the work that I've done and have to start over! I'm currently in the Admin panel looking at "Server Settings" where I see:
Forum URL
SMF Directory
Sources Directory
Cache Directory
Are these the URLS I need to replace? They specifically told me that there's nothing that'd need to be changed on the cPanel side as the files would stay in the same folder.
I would just need to change the forum back end to start using the new URL. Apparently, Admin > Theme Settings > Then update the theme URLS and directories. Save
