When you say 'comment out everything' i presume you mean delete it all and upload a blank?

I did that and just get a 500 error.

This is driving me nuts , i wouldnt have used wordpress but they were already using it so I kinda had to . Didnt realise it would be this difficult to just see the forum repair_settings.php !

If you have any other ideas I would be eternally grateful.
