Based on experience. I've been here for years. I've seen paid mods come and go. Your stipulation is that competition would cause prices to lower. It hasn't. Several of vbgamer's mods have had, at one time or other, other competition. Often cheaper, too. And he hasn't lowered his prices.
I've thought about the paid mod route. I've had all kinds of personal abuse over the years for even suggesting some of the ideas. I have even had threats based on paid mods I asked people for feedback on, demanding I release it for them for free.
I know full well if I were to enter the paid mod arena it would shake things up, and I definitely have the skills. The money would be nice, too, would make a change from the usual round of ungratefulness I see. But I know the paid modders don't want the hassle that goes with it either.
