However... when you say "a separate" website... do you mean a different domain? If so... the above will not work (actually, none of it will work cookies can not be share across domains) if you just mean a different subdomain, then you canset the SMF cookies to sub-domain independent and it should work...

Yes, it's all under the same domain. What I'm doing is trying to make it so my game can communicate with the forum so that players have to use their forum accounts to login to the game. I was thinking there'd be a script or something that I could use to check whether players are entering valid credentials.

Think of it like this: I login to the game and enter "Kashes" as my username and my password. Then the game executes a script which asks SMF if the credentials are correct, returning true if so and false otherwise.

What you suggested works but I don't think it's going to work for the above.
