Just noticed one detail. The upperframe and lowerframe classes are showing square white corners due to the overlap of the spans. Why not just forget the spans, add a bit of top and bottom padding to roundframe, and do the whole thing with CSS border-radius? Less code. Easier to modify. Will still look ok in older browsers.
